Max Rosenzweig’s images of graphic western settings are photographed digitally and manipulated to create stories that evoke questions about the process of digital media and also how they may fit into the context of contemporary western art/the history of art in the west.
These pictures are composed with the mindset of a child playing with the toys of our adolescence. Each photograph looks through a different focal point in western history and uses appropriated objects and imagery to create alternative history about the land and its people.
Max was born and raised in Utah. He works with an eclectic mixture of photographic tools and mediums. The use of 120 film, Polaroids, Cyanotypes and digital imagery are all in constant flux and manipulation.
